I feel very blessed to have spent an entire day dedicated to being nurtured with some of Perth’s Maternity Health & Wellness Experts thanks to Swell Retreats business owners Angie & Belinda.
In excitement to share the day as it unfolded, I’m jumping straight in to all the exclusive activities that allowed us to connect, recharge and flourish as we approach the late stages of pregnancy.
First up, after a meet and greet with the other guests over morning tea, we were led through a relaxing Prenatal Yoga Class with Angie. While writing this, I have only a few weeks to go and lying in this supported position at home is so comfortable for my big belly!
Following the yoga we were introduced to Angela Harrison, Acupuncturist, Naturopath & Ayurvedic Practitioner discussing the benefits of acupuncture in preparation for labour and what nourishing foods to consume once bub has arrived to restore the body back to balance. With emphasis on the Ayurvedic principles – it is recommended we consume a simple diet, including plenty of warm foods and hydration to build up the energy and fluid/blood loss from the birthing of our newborn.
As a Nutritionist, I am very excited to holistically restore my body back to balance ♥
YES it is Lunch Time…
The nourishing spread of Indian cuisine, salads and paleo style foods was beyond delicious!!
The afternoon began with a baby belly shake Active Belly Dancing Lesson with Rayya, Birth Dance Instructor and Doula. This is something I would have probably never experienced, providing some techniques to guide us though contractions and encourage active labour…yes there was Shakira !!
Tea and conversation of personal hopes & fears about the pre/post birth expectations with Abbey Rodda : Private Midwife, Owner of The Nest on Silas Health & Wellness Centre, University Lecturer. Quite a therapeutic session sharing and listening to the other women, I really enjoyed this activity and how the power of awareness can reduce the stress of the given situation.
It was my turn for a 30 minute private session with Belinda – Elevate Kinesiology Energetic Kinesiologist as we worked through some underlying negative energy and improved the bodies healing systems. Belinda is very professional and her expertise in Kinesiology comes across as a natural gift.
Unfortunately I missed the chat with Nicole Lloyd : Creator of SoundBirth but experienced her Sound Healing session during Angies final yoga class to bring the day to an end. AMAZING!!!
I honestly left feeling very relaxed and invigorated, I would highly recommend other pregnant mum-to-be’s take some time out to experience a Pregnancy Day Retreat with Swell Retreats. We all left gifted with such generosity in the goodie bags too, including a complementary newborn photoshoot with Onesies & Co, Fremantle.
